First off I want to preface this post. I am NOT a beauty influencer, I’m not a huge make up gal or big on multi-step routines. I get my hair cut and maybe highlights once a year, I make sure to wash my face every night and to wear sunscreen. I throw in some face massage, a little mascara, and I chug a cup of water when I remember. I’m a mom of two young kids, I get about 5 minutes in the bathroom before, no matter what I’m doing, I’m interrupted with “Moooom, where ARE you?”
I’m also 42 years old, haven’t gotten more that 6 hours of interrupted sleep in 6 years, and, like most women, I want to age…gracefully. (ie- not LOOK like a haggard mom who hasn’t slept in 6 years)
This post will be the first of three beauty/skin focused posts I’ll do in the coming weeks. Stepping into the world of content creation and product testing has opened up a flow of new and exciting products and devices for me to try. Some aren’t worth the money, some take up too much space (both on my counter and in my day), and some just plain didn’t work for me. But… I’ve honed in on my favorites at this point, and I have a solid routine that really feels like it works. I’ve honestly gotten so many compliments on my skin recently, from my neighbor, to my friends, to my esthetician. And most importantly… from ME! Rarely do we look in the mirror and see the good, right? Well, as of late, I’ve been giving myself a little high five in the skin department.
I’ll circle back to products soon, this post is dedicated to a device. I’ve spoken about it before, but I’ve been using the ZIIP Halo microcurrent device consistently since I got it in early February, and the results have been so good I’m actually kinda shocked.
How it works: In a nutshell, it’s a little metal sphere that fits in your palm. It has two electrodes that you place on your skin after covering it in a thin layer of conductive gel. Then you simply glide it around your face. It gives little beeps when a certain area is done. The app is free and has a whole library of videos and “how-to’s”. Sometimes you can feel a small little zap from the electrical current but you just add more gel and it’s virtually painless. Essentially it’s giving your face muscles a little workout.
Benefits: (taken from the ZIIP website)
Reduces wrinkles by 28% (in 6 weeks)
Stimulates ATP production and boosts collagen
Smooths fine lines and wrinkles
Instantly lifts and tightens skin through electrical muscle stimulation
Helps you get 'that glow'
Evens skin tone, clears pigmentation and age spots
Reasons I love it:
small- both the device and the charger fit into their own little carrying case that then fits easily into my toiletries bag
user friendly-easy to hold, not loud, has follow along videos in the app
customizable programs- you can decide how much time you have (5 or 10 minutes tops for me) and can target one or two areas or do an entire face
doesn’t require replacement parts/extras (comes with a big bottle of conductive gel that I haven’t even made a dent in yet and honestly will just re-up on amazon when it runs out)
can do on the go (car, airplane, etc) just need a face wipe for the gel and you’re good to go
WORKS!
Downsides for me would be price (although it’s about the cost of 2 or 3 facials that I’m happy to forgo in order to have ongoing skin treatments at home) and having to keep up with it. I’m sure I’ll get busy and take a week off here and there, but the reward of glowing skin will push me to make sure I go back to it!
Ok, a few progress pics. I am using it about 3-4 times a week. I did the “7 Day Facelift” program and noticed a big difference after that and now I think I’m more in the maintenance stage.
I hate full frontal face pics… but, for the sake of beauty… here we go.
This is a before, granted I’m red from the sauna, but you can see some roughness on my forehead, enlarged pores, and fine lines.
A couple weeks in- Still a little roughness on the forehead but at this point I was noticing changes.
After I did the 7 day facelift program. I have some brow gel and mascara on but nothing on my face except moisturizer. I saw a lift and a glow, and a tightening of pores.
And this is last evening, I have nothing on except a tad of mascara. I’ve noticed my redness is reduced, the roughness has smoothed out, and my fine lines are hardly noticeable.
Overall, for me, it’s a game changer. For the few minutes a day I put into in, the results are well worth it for me.
ZIIP has given me a discount code for you, and RUTHSTRUTHS will save you 10%
